Recent research has revealed that the indoor air within our homes and offices can be more polluted than the air outdoors. To measure the Air Pollution and keep it in check, governments have come up with an index called Air Quality Index (AQI). Air pollution is one of the major problems the world is facing today. The atmosphere is filled with smoke, dust, allergens and various contaminants that get trapped in the lungs and get absorbed by the blood.
Outdoor polluting sources like vehicles and industries release tons of pollutants into the environment that include carbon monoxide, lead, nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, ground level ozone, benzene etc. On the other hand, Indoor environments are highly complex. Occupants may be exposed to diverse pollutants like Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) including tobacco smoke, Respiratory Particulate Matters, toxic compounds from carpets, furnishings, office equipment and microbial growth on damp surfaces, etc.
Exposure to poor quality air with these pollutants over long periods makes us susceptible to Respiratory and Cardiovascular diseases. In addition, these can also cause irritating symptoms like headache, nausea, fatigue, etc. that bring down our daily productivity in work places.
Air quality monitoring is vital in bringing in some control measures. Air Quality Monitoring devices are equipped with various sensors to notify the user if the air quality index exceeds the safe limit. iSol has been designing and developing products for the air quality monitoring systems for the past few years.
