Water Purifier
Background
Non-electric water purifiers are usually portable, making them a great option in cases where you have to move frequently. These types of water purifiers are useful when you get water from sources like the municipal water supply which usually have low TDS (total dissolved solids) levels.
Project Scope
We designed and developed the complete mechanicals for the product including Conceptualization, Detailed engineering, Development of Prototypes, Design Validation, Manufacturing Drawings Release, and Development of Parts.
Industrial Design Concepts
The design concepts for the portable water purifier were proposed by drawing inspiration from a wide range of objects around us. Two biophilic design concepts were proposed featuring forms that resembled a coconut and a penguin respectively. A minimal shelf concept inspired by a bookshelf had also been proposed along with a turgid water can concept that closely resembled a regular water can. An alien-inspired concept was also proposed featuring a playful yet futuristic design and a minimal convex concept was proposed with a smooth curvy body, mounted on a stable standing structure.

Sleek and elegant design made from food-grade non-toxic plastic. The storage capacity of the purifier is 20 Litres and the water is Purified in 4 Stages. No need of electricity.

The convex design concept was chosen for the form of the product due to its minimal aesthetics and clean functional layout. The design also delivered the portable nature of the product and seemed functionally efficient, providing a larger volume than any other concept. The design of the product was such that it could be used in different environments, for commercial as well as domestic use.
