Background
Innovative devices, be it a basic fitness monitoring device or a complex scanner, or Robotic Surgical Equipment, Medical devices are changing the scope of healthcare across the Globe. With the introduction of the latest technologies, new and innovative medical devices are being introduced in healthcare both in Hospitals and homes. At the same time, there is tremendous pressure to reduce healthcare expenditures while diversifying competition and improving care.
Conceptualization
SaRVaK could be visualized as three different design concepts that include, a minimal book concept featuring a stable structure resembling an open book, a modern streamlined concept featuring sharp lines and intersections, and a slick pebble concept developed specifically to enhance the visual appeal for users. The three concepts explore the different aspects of human-centered design such as empathy, creativity, and business needs. The product was designed to be used by medical professionals in different environmental conditions in the most efficient manner whilst also keeping the patients in mind.
Concept Detailing
Concept detailing The open book concept was chosen to be the final design of the product due to its simple layout that follows the philosophy of ‘Form meets Function’. The concept not only takes care of the functional aspects of the product but also provides a clean ergonomic interface that flows over a stable structure best suiting the user requirements.
Project Features
SaRVaK 1301 is a 12 Channel Diagnostic ECG Device with a touch Display displaying and a printer printing 3 channels at a time.
The Device could be used in Clinics, OPDs, Wards, or ICUs of Hospitals.
The complete product has been designed in-house including Industrial Design, Electrical Hardware, Firmware/ Software, Mechanical Design. The product was completely developed to release for manufacturing. The device has a nice 3.5” touch display which can display 3 channels at a time. It also has a 3” Printer. It offers both internal and external storage facility.
Standard 12 Channel Simultaneous ECG Acquisition, Lightweight and Portable, Digital Filtering, User Intuitive Setup Configuration, Single Touch operation for acquiring, processing and printing, Longer battery support with extendable battery option, SD card / USB Interface for External Storage, Built-in Defib Protection, Pace pulse Detection, Automatic Lead Fail Detection, Data Communication through Ethernet Product works both on AC power and a user-replaceable battery so that it can be carried to rural camps or places where there may not be continuous availability of line power.
Highlights
The product was designed like an open book, that being synonymous to ECG paper being printed upon. The aesthetics of the product was very well appreciated in the market. The display was positioned at a tilt so that it was ergonomic for the users to operate and read from it.
