PoS Label Printer
Background
The paper loading to the printer was taking more time consuming procedure in field
Solution
To facilitate easy paper insertion Top plate was cut to and experimented without top support for hinge.
Observation
Observation after top plate is cut
Inference
The top end of the hinge should be supported for proper print quality
Highlights
4 Concepts were created to support the hinge
Concept 1 – Simple Bend Bracket
The top end of hinge is supported by simple bracket. Bracket is aligned to Base with Locating features on the Base
As part of the Design validation, iSol also carried out a drop test and confirmed the product would be safe upon accidental drop from 3 feet to the ground
Concept 2 – Machined blocks with simple sheet metal bracket
The top end of hinge is supported by gooseneck bracket. Alignment of the bracket is maintained by Locating pins in the plastic base
Concept 3 – Hinge supported directly in the bas
Bottom end of the hinge is supported in the base. Top end is secured by circlip
Concept 4 – Hinge and Hook
Top end of the hinge was connected by a Hook. The user has to slide open and close the Latch while replacing paper roll
